jbs mercantile february: compass

i'm so loving the song "compass" by lady antebellum.  it gets my foot to tapping every time it comes on the radio.  and i have to be careful as i mostly listen to the radio in the car, lol.  i just had to use it as a layout title with this picture.  had to.  i actually was just going to stick this pic in a project life spread until that song started coming on the radio.  i don't know what i was thinking.  this pic deserved a little extra attention.

i worked with the february jbs mercantile kits on this one.  i'm especially pleased with how the title came out.  i painted one of the chipboard hearts from the mini-album kit white.  i wrote the song title on it with a wide tipped marker and then colored in some spots and outlined the heart in grey.

i knew it was going to be a stretch to try to scrapbook the rest of the campout pics with the over the top heart themed kit. i was struggling, actually, until i thought to pull in the woodland ephemera from my old august mini-album kit.  i knew i was holding onto it for a reason!  a perfect match!

i know i keep saying i don't care if my project life pages and layouts match when they're on the same spread and truly i don't.  but i have to admit that it does look pretty.  and it's honestly easier too.  if i've already done on side (it doesn't matter which i do first, layout or project life page) it's just easier to start with that same set of supplies for the facing page and then add in whatever else i need to make my theme/thoughts work with the product.  it's been fun to merge the two styles of memory keeping.

  3. I really like the way you've doodled and adding those trees makes it work so well. Proof you really can make any kit work if you want to.
